Tell us about your role at SMHI!

I work with the implementation of new systems, operational testing, and technical management of IT systems. At SMHI, we create and manage a variety of systems, such as smhi.se.

What does a typical day at your job look like?

A day rarely goes as planned. Typical tasks on my to-do list include patching new applications, troubleshooting, testing, installation, and deployment of IT systems.

System operations always take precedence. If there are indications that something isn’t working, we immediately stop the day’s plans to start troubleshooting and ensure the operational environment is functioning.

What is the best thing about your job?

I continue to learn new things every day, and unexpected events occur all the time. I applied for this job because of the societal benefit; it was more important to me than money. Over time, the wonderful colleagues here have also become a reason why I enjoy my work so much.

We have very exciting tasks, with countless interesting projects to get involved in, both national and international. If there is a downside, it’s that time never seems to be enough. There are many fascinating projects I would like to be a part of, but time just flies by.
