The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute

SMHI is a government agency under the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise. This means that we manage and develop information about weather, water, and climate, providing the public sector, business community, and the general public with knowledge and qualified decision-making support. SMHI collaborates daily with authorities and organisations both in Sweden and internationally. We represent Sweden in several international organisations.

We provide the public and societal functions with forecasts and issue warnings for severe weather and water events. SMHI also offers products and services that serve as crucial decision-making support for, for example, Swedish authorities, organisations, and municipalities. This can range from weather forecasts for aviation or research projects on air pollution to investigations and consultation responses."
