Tell us about your role at SMHI!

In my role, I get to work broadly across the entire HR field. It is a varied job that includes everything from broad issues such as employer policies, laws, and agreements or personnel care initiatives, to recruitment and the more everyday tasks that need to be addressed in support of managers or employees. Everything within HR is enjoyable and development-oriented, and the variety contributes to my satisfaction with my work. Currently, I have a greater interest in areas such as labour law, agreements, and collaboration, and I have the opportunity to deepen my knowledge in these areas through continuing education and in my work.

What does a typical day look like in your job?

My workdays vary, of course, and I have a lot of freedom to plan my work according to my priorities. I usually start the day by reviewing my emails and planning my day. Often, I have one or more meetings on the agenda, which could be with my workgroup, in a project, with a manager, or perhaps conducting a job interview. There are many interactions with others, which I find exciting. Otherwise, you can find me at my desk where I handle emails, administration, and various writings. Often, the workday ends quite abruptly when I realise I need to rush to pick up my children from preschool and school.

What is the best part of your job?

That my work is constantly evolving. The work environment is continuously changing, and it is exciting to both look ahead to the future and be adaptable in the present. I think we are at the forefront of our HR work at SMHI; we draw inspiration and learning from recent research in our field and are willing to question established HR discourse when necessary. And, of course, working for an authority with a crucial societal mission in weather, water, and climate is a significant advantage that gives extra meaning to my work, a higher purpose.
