SMHI as a workplace

Our wide-ranging and in-depth operations require employees with a diversity of skills and experiences. We work daily on tasks that are crucial for the common good, safety, and sustainability of society.

Diversity that enhances operations and well-being

SMHI's most valuable asset is the people who work within the organisation. Our employees represent a diversity of ages, backgrounds, experiences, and personalities. We are all unique, and everyone's abilities and innovative spirit are put to good use. In this way, diversity contributes to both our operations and the overall well-being at work.

Skills development can range from training programmes to participating in different workgroups, projects, and networks. It can also involve close collaboration between new employees and more experienced colleagues or rotating between different tasks.

SMHI receives the "Excellent Employer" award

SMHI has been awarded the "Excellent Employer" recognition in the Nyckeltalsinstitutet's extensive survey on gender equality, Jämix. SMHI's results rank among the top ten percent in the entire study, and we are also ranked highest among the 40 participating government agencies.

A work environment where you thrive and grow

SMHI's goal is to ensure a work environment that promotes a good working atmosphere, a balanced work-life integration, and overall employee satisfaction. Some of our success factors include excellent opportunities for development, gender equality, diversity, a high ratio of managers, and flexible solutions for individuals.

We encourage all employees to participate in the ongoing planning and renewal processes at SMHI. This is also the best way to influence one's own work situation.

The engagement, participation, and responsibility of all employees for the organisation and their own development are reflected in SMHI's core values and supported by a management philosophy that emphasises highly delegated managerial responsibility.
