We also trust that everyone is committed to doing their best, being involved, and taking responsibility for the development of our operations.
At SMHI, we value:
Drive
We are committed, proactive, and take initiative.
Flexibility
We are capable and willing to adapt to changing conditions.
Communication
We are clear, attentive, and foster credible dialogue with others.
SMHI's leaders should embody:
Vision
Look beyond the immediate, see the broader context, think innovatively, and maintain a holistic perspective.
Courage
Express and stand by their opinions. Possess the ability to make and implement decisions, even when they are challenging.
Ethics
Serve as a positive role model in their leadership role. Maintain a positive view of people by setting expectations and providing recognition to employees.

Promoting equality and inclusion
At SMHI, equality is a major focus and is seen as essential for a good work environment. Employees and managers work together to maintain an inclusive workplace that fosters diversity and prevents discrimination. SMHI is a member of the Lika villkor network, a regional network of authorities that promotes the development of public sector practises to better uphold human rights.
Since 2009, SMHI has utilised the Nyckeltalsinstitutet's gender equality index, Jämix, to monitor and compare key metrics with other agencies and companies. These metrics reflect structural conditions for an equitable workplace, including leadership, career development, salary, health, parenthood, part-time work, job security, and active gender equality efforts.
