The aim of the workshop tool
By adapting society to climate change, we can lessen the effects that climate change will bring to our societies, both in the short and long term. We need to find solutions from a broader perspective and work in new collaborations. People from different disciplines and sectors need to come together and discuss in a supportive environment. Climate adaptation efforts can and should lead to an even better society than the one we have today. But what might it look like when society is prepared to face climate change?
Create your visions of the future
SMHI has developed a workshop tool to help your organisation to create visions of a climate-adapted society. In groups, you will discuss and face questions related to how your operations need to change to meet the climate challenges ahead.
Your own climate strategies and action plans makes a good foundation for the workshop. They provide a shared understanding of the challenges and effects that will impact your specific operations.
After the workshop, you have:
- created a common vision of the goal for climate adaptation work – "this is how we want a climate-adapted society to look and work", and
- a material to use as a basis for upcoming strategies and action plans.
How to carry out the workshop
1. Preparations
Think about who should take part, which climate challenges you want to focus on, and what you want to achieve. Formulate a clear goal for the workshop. See support materials:

2. Print out materials
Print out the background images, figures and objects that you want to use in your workshop. All materials can be found in the document

3. Hold workshop
Take the presentation material as a starting point. Adapt it to suit your operations, or create your own presentation from scratch.
