SMHI is the Swedish national focal point for the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change.

The IPCC prepares comprehensive Assessment Reports about knowledge on climate change, its causes, potential impacts and response options. The IPCC also produces Special Reports, which are an assessment on a specific issue and Methodology Reports, which provide practical guidelines for the preparation of greenhouse gas inventories.

SMHI is Sweden's national focal point for the IPCC and represents Sweden at the IPCC's decision-making meetings. The role also includes nominating Swedish experts to participate in IPCC work, as well as disseminating the knowledge and messages from the IPCC reports to a wide range of audiences.
